The Centre for Learning, Innovation and Collaboration (CLIC, formerly CETADL) at the University of Birmingham is a world-leading facility for research and development in e-learning. In November 2003, CLIC was awarded a three year grant byMicrosoft UK Limited to research innovations in the areas of educational technology and distance learning.
The grant has now concluded. Completed projects include:
- EcoWiki, an investigation into the use of FlexWiki for supporting collaborative resource writing within the School of Education.
- DataExchange, a system for fair and autonomous data sharing amongst undergraduate students in the School of Psychology.
- StudyLink, a system supporting administrative communication through text messaging for students at the Centre for Lifelong Learning. Mobile Technology for Museum Tours, an investigation into the use of Hypertag technology to support context sensitive tours in the Lapworth Museum of Geology.
- CAERUS, a complete context aware system for use at outdoor educational centres and tourist sites, developed with the University's Botanic Garden at Winterbourne.
- CABLE, a cost-effective, online mathematics assessment tool that utilises computer algebra support, developed with the HEA Maths, Stats & OR Network.
