CPSP is moving from the University of Birmingham, to join with the LGiU as a social enterprise.  John Tizard will remain Director of CPSP, which will be known as CPSP@LGiU to reflect the new partnership.

Earlier this year the University of Birmingham and John Tizard reached an amicable agreement that the CPSP’s objectives and ambitions can be best achieved in the future if the core activities of CPSP were to move to a new environment, outside of the University. This is a natural progression for CPSP as it moves into its third year. John is being appointed as a Senior Honorary Fellow at the University of Birmingham.

The partnership will be live from January 2010 when CPSP will relocate to the LGiU’s Euston offices to work alongside the LGiU team. CPSP@LGiU will be established as a not for profit social enterprise company under the LGiU umbrella. CPSP will continue with key projects, such as its leading role in developing Total Place, the development of new service commissioning and delivery models, and new partnership models for the public, business and third sectors.

I have very much enjoyed the last two years and I believe that we have achieved a great deal.  I have developed good professional and personal relationships at the University and very much hope to continue these as an Honorary Senior Fellow, which the University has generously offered to me, and retaining an academic partnership with the University’s College of Social Sciences.  Consequently, whilst I have mixed feelings about leaving the University, I am very confident that the new relationship of CPSP@LGiU will offer the opportunity to build on our achievements; realise the CPSP objectives; and to make a significant impact on public policy and public services
